Eliathah began officially with 20 members as a branch Sabbath school of the Maranatha church.  It was in January 1994 that the initial steps were taken to formalize this branch, known then as the Broadview Branch Sabbath School.

Saturday, June 4, 1994 was the first day of worship in the new church home.  On that day, 35 individuals gathered at Bethel Baptist church, 6060 Kimberly Blvd in North Lauderdale, Florida.

Also in 1994, a  new name was chosen. “Eliathah” which means “the Lord cometh”  reflected the group’s belief in the blessed hope.

On June 29, 1996, Eliathah Seventh-day  Adventist company was organized with 90 members.  Worship continued at Bethel Baptist Church.

On Friday, July 17, 1997, the documents were signed for the current church home to be  purchased, 6 months after negotiations had begun. Interestingly, on the day before the    purchase,  members discovered that they were $35,000 short of the amount required for closing.  Members spent the day in prayer. By evening, more than $35,000 was raised. Eliathah would again say, “to God be  the Glory!”

Eliathah’s official church opening exercises were held on Saturday, April 25, 1998.  The celebration began on Friday, April 24, 1998 and lasted through Sunday, April 26, 1998.  The theme was “Celebrating God’s Goodness.”  Eliathah’s church website was officially launched  on this weekend.
